Are all the matches being played in France?

Yes, France was confirmed as the host nation in 2018, beating rival bids from South Africa and Ireland, and unlike previous occasions the 2023 edition of the tournament will be played entirely in France.

Which cities will host matches?

There are nine host cities for the tournament: Lille, Paris, Saint-Denis (a suburb of Paris), Nantes, Lyon, Saint-Étienne, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Nice and Marseille.

How many teams will be playing in the tournament?

There are 20 teams competing in RWC 2023. This number is made up of teams which achieved a top-three finish in the pool stages of the 2019 tournament. An additional eight teams will join them after a qualifying process.
